Title Notarization
  • Buying or selling a car, we will notarize your title for you. Title Notarization fulfills the formal requirement to transfer ownership of the vehicle from the existing to new owner. Please remember, DO NOT sign forms or proof of ownership (i.e. the certificate of title or certificate of origin) unless you are in the presence of a notary. Prematurely signing a title, for example, will “Deface” the proof of ownership and render the document useless.
Online Title Transfers
  • Bought a car and need to transfer a title?   You may qualify for an Online Title Transfer which provides an “instant” title transfer from the existing to new owner. The online process streamlines titling in a more efficient and accurate manner. Your new title will be printed and mailed from PennDOT within just 5-7 business days.Instant title transfers are eligible for instant vehicle registration. If you are registering the vehicle, proof of insurance will also be necessary. Click here for more information on registering a vehicle.

Trailers – Out-of-State Title Transfers
  • Cox Automotive advises customers to Consider Out-of-State Trailer Purchases very carefully BEFORE finalizing a deal. Depending on the circumstance, some types of trailers coming into PA from Ohio and New York may NOT have a title, as these states do not require titling and/or registration.  However, an Out-Of-State title or (if you are the first owner) a Manufacturer’s Certificate of Origin is REQUIRED for a Pennsylvania Title Application.
  • It is wise to do your research; the lack of a title could be a problem for you.  To determine titling procedures in other states visit WWW.DMV.ORG.If you have already purchased the trailer from a personal owner, you can attempt to process a PA Title application if you obtain a written statement from the seller’s DMV explaining that states titling/registration procedures. You should plan to supply a bill of sale and any other supporting documentation that might help the application process. (OH Example:  A registration card from previous OH owner)

If you have already purchased the trailer from a dealership, you should obtain a written statement, accompanied by a bill of sale, from the dealer regarding that state’s titling/registration procedures.
